Zeal the Love

#ZealTheLove is our way of spreading joy and lending a helping hand in our community.

#ZealTheLove for the Holidays

Through #ZealTheLove for the Holidays, we’re supporting the missions of various charitable organizations who give love and support to our community members who could use a helping hand. For the 2021 holiday season, we’ve dedicated $5,000 (plus donations raised) to brighten the holidays in our communities in various ways. We’ll share our stories here and on social media.

We are so grateful for charitable organizations like these, for all they do to improve the lives of everyone in the communities they’re part of.

#ZealTheLove: Downriver for Veterans

Zeal’s Southgate, Dearborn, Melvindale, Allen Park, Woodhaven, Taylor, Middlebelt, and Westland branches teamed up in December to support Downriver for Veterans, a local downriver organization that provides veterans with food, water, furniture, medical ramps, and equipment, as well as counseling, exercise programs, and more.

The team donated $1,000 in Meijer gift cards to the organization in support of their passion for helping those in the communities Zeal serves. The gift cards will help provide a means for veterans to purchase much needed perishable food items such as meat, eggs, and milk.

#ZealTheLove: Ozone House

Our team purchased and donated 10 winter coats for Ozone House teenagers. To ensure their donation made the biggest impact, they waited until after the organization’s coat drive to determine which sizes were most needed.

Ozone House is a community-based, non-profit agency that is dedicated to helping at-risk youth (including teens who identify as LGBTQ+ and are 40% more at risk in the homeless community) lead safe, healthy, and productive lives through intensive prevention and intervention services.

The Zeal team has pledged to volunteer at Ozone House in Spring 2022 when volunteer opportunities become available.

#ZealTheLove: Operation Good Cheer

Our E-Services, Card Services, Accounting and Operations teams joined together for #ZealTheLove to support Operation Good Cheer through Child and Family Services of Michigan, Inc. (CFSM).

CFSM’s mission is to provide service for a network of member and cooperating agencies that promote the emotional and social well-being of Michigan’s children and families, and they created Operation Good Cheer, a volunteer Christmas gift giving program, to make a difference for children residing in foster care. Since it was founded in 1971, this program has made Christmas dreams come true for over 100,000 individuals.

This year, our team was able to help make the Christmas dreams of two children come true.

#ZealTheLove: Michelle R. and Family

Through Livonia Goodfellows, our IT team was connected with Michelle R. and her family.

In getting to know the family, our team was moved to help them make memories together; Michelle is undergoing chemotherapy and radiation treatments and our team wanted to give her family experiences they’d always remember – so with the #ZealTheLove contribution and donations raised, the family enjoyed a weekend trip to Great Wolf Lodge, gift cards for AMC and Dave and Busters – plus a gift card for winter gear to keep them warm this season, DoorDash and more.

This family has touched our hearts and we continue to hope for the best for them.

#ZealTheLove: Michigan United Cerebral Palsy

Our Mortgage Team is supporting Michigan United Cerebral Palsy’s (MI-UCP) QuickRamps for Kids program. MI-UCP’s mission is near and dear to our team’s hearts; A teammate’s mother has multiple sclerosis, and he knows how much of an impact a simple, functional mobility solution will make in the lives of children who use a wheelchair.

MI-UCP’s mission is to enable all Michiganders with a disability to live to the best of their abilities and ambitions; and QuickRamps for Kids provides easy-to-install ramps to low to moderate income households at no charge, so that children with mobility disabilities can access their home without barriers. This program makes a direct and immediate impact on the lives of children with disabilities in our community. Thank you Michigan United Cerebral Palsy for all you do!

Thank you!

Each day, law enforcement professionals put themselves in harm’s way to protect our communities. Today, our Detroit branch was joined by Zeal’s Loss Prevention Department and our Marketing team to deliver lunch to the Detroit Police Department’s 7th Precinct and to thank them for all they do!
